QA PageObject Selector is a browser extension that helps users generate CSS and XPath selectors and configurable PageObject or code output from elements on the currently active web page.
Data processed by the extension
QA PageObject Selector processes the rendered DOM and website content of the currently active page when the user explicitly activates the element picker or page scanner.
This processing is necessary to:
- inspect page elements;
- generate CSS and XPath selectors;
- determine how many elements match a selector;
- highlight selected or matching elements;
- generate configurable output using built-in presets or user-defined templates;
- detect list, card, and table-row structures and generate scoped or positional XPath selectors.
Locally stored data
The extension uses Chrome local storage to save user preferences, including:
- selector configuration profiles;
- selector priority settings;
- custom test attributes;
- dynamic ID patterns;
- ignored class patterns;
- selected output format and custom output templates;
- interface language;
- picker panel position;
- main panel position;
- optional website hostname-to-profile mappings configured by the user.
This information remains stored locally in the browser.
Data transmission
QA PageObject Selector does not transmit website content, generated selectors, browsing data, configuration settings, or other user data to the developer or to external servers.
The extension does not use:
- analytics services;
- advertising networks;
- telemetry services;
- tracking technologies;
- remote APIs for page analysis;
- remote code execution.
Data sharing and selling
User data is not sold, rented, licensed, or shared with third parties.
User data is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness decisions, or purposes unrelated to the extension's functionality.
Website access
The extension uses Chrome's activeTab permission to access the currently active
page only after the user explicitly activates the extension.
The extension does not request permanent access to all websites.
Data retention
Website content inspected by the extension is processed temporarily in the browser and is not stored by the developer.
Extension settings stored through chrome.storage.local remain on the user's
device until the user:
- changes the settings;
- resets the extension settings;
- clears the extension's stored data; or
- uninstalls the extension.
Permissions
activeTab
Allows the extension to temporarily access the currently active page after explicit user interaction.
scripting
Allows the extension to inject its locally packaged selector picker and page-scanning functionality into the active page.
storage
Allows the extension to save configuration profiles, language preferences, selector settings, output preferences, custom templates, and panel positions locally in Chrome.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
QA PageObject Selector's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Information accessed by the extension is used only to provide the user-facing selector generation and configurable output functionality described in the extension.
The extension does not transfer user data for advertising purposes and does not allow humans to access user website content.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
If the extension's data practices change in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
